Not only is memorizing scripture important for you and me but it is also beneficial for our kids especially when memorizing scripture from the book of Psalms.
The Lord merely spoke, and the heavens were created. He breathed the word, and all the stars were born. -Psalm 33:6
- It encourages spiritual growth: memorizing psalms gives kids a good foundation on knowing God and His word, building a strong foundation on their faith and a personal relation with God. It helps kids to learn the character of God and His promises from the words of King David.
- Memorizing Psalms promotes a healthy emotional well-being. Psalms covers a wide range of emotions from thanksgiving, sorrow, lament, joy, and anger to name a few. It shows that it is ok to go to the Lord with our feelings and to wholeheartedly be honest with Him. It helps our kids to develop a personal relation with the Lord.

- Break it down to bite size pieces and make the scripture easy for the kids to understand what is being said. Even as an adult, I find this helpful and easier to memorize when I know what is being said in simpler terms
- Incorporate it in your prayers and your daily conversations.
